Our Brother in Christ

I have been reading a book loaned to me by a friend titled "A Man of Faith" The spiritual Journey of George W. Bush by respected former Senior Correspondent for Time Magazine, journalist David Aikman.

Thomas Nelson Publishers

If you haven't made up your mind on who you are going to vote for or you have and it is not the President that you intend to vote for this passage should be all you need to know who is right man for the job.

If you are a follower of Christ just reading this passage from the book makes it certain you should be behind President Bush.

Page 157 of "Man of Faith":

"SOME OF THE LEAST KNOWN, though in many ways most telling, illustrations of George W.'s Faith have come from within the White House itself. One incident I heard about from two sources, independent of each other. When a White House courier once entered the Oval Office unannounced to make a very important delivery, there was no sign of the president. Only his shoes were protruding from behind his desk. The president of the United States was lying prostrate on the floor in prayer."

This factor alone, not withstanding the clear distinction of biblical principles and guidelines that President Bush is guided by and the way Senator Kerry snubs his nose and is in direct contradiction to biblical principles, should compel ever Christian to Vote for the President Bush's re-election.

Seth,

First your comment on the President Bush praying and seeking God in the Oval Office, your quote: “Dave, this is one, I believe good reason, that I think Bush hasn't been a great president.” Interesting?

I guess using your formula every Old Testament leader/ruler/king who had to make the tough choices and seek the face of God and rely on Him was not a great leader, using your formula of course.

I guess in life and raising a family as also in public service when a tough situation is faced using the "Seth Doctrine" we should plow ahead with out seeking the Almighty's direction and leading. At least the current President has a Faith in God and leans into it and relies on his faith always. Mr. Kerry is so out of step with his own acknowledged faith that in most of the churches in his faith his is not welcome to a participant. One key reason I believe to stand with the President.

Back to the “Seth Doctrine”, just for example as someone who deals with young people daily and their problems when a young person has a tough problem using again your formula, I should just plow right through and tell them what I think they should do before and without seeking God's direction because as a leader in your eyes of course I would be a better leader and this would warrant support from those like yourself.

Using your rationale none of the Old Testament wars would have not been justified or right.

For me I will stand every time on the side of having leaders with the right values, having the right character in leaders and leaders that will do what is right and always seek the face of God when making the tough and small decisions. The right choice is abundantly clear here George W Bush will seek the Lord.

Hey Dave!

This is Sandra Jewett. I have been reading your debate between Seth and yourself in regards to the upcoming election.

First off, it appears to me that you think everyone, especially fellow Christians, should vote for President Bush simply because he is a Christian and has demonstrated so by praying laying down in the oval office. If I am taking your first post out of context please forgive me.

Second of all, you replied to Seth's first post with great sarcasm. How is that acting out of your faith?

I am too a Christian. I do not pray in the prone position, but that does not mean that I am not a Christian, or not as good of a Christian as Pres. Bush. God never said to vote for the Christian who demonstrates a faith that coincides with your own. Actually he does not say anything at all about voting. What he does say, is to respect your government - whether it coincides with your beliefs or not. Both Bush and Kerry are not perfect Christians, but they are both Christians. Why are you not considering the past four years and also their current issues (besides abortion). Also, if you are going to accuse Kerry of snubing his nose at Christian principles, you are basically giving a moot point since you are not quoting examples.

I applaude the President for his praying, unless he didn't have the carpet cleaned after Clinton soiled it while he was in that position, but then again he wasn't praying.
